How we build, and why we keep it simple.
We're a small family workshop in Brackenfell. We make one piece at a time, in solid blackwood, with joinery that's meant to last — no showroom, no stock, no shortcuts.
A small family workshop
We don’t mass-produce or keep stock. Every piece is made to order, for one room and one customer, and nothing is cut until you’ve approved the design. You deal directly with the people building your furniture, which keeps the price honest and the answers straight.
Why blackwood
It’s one of the hardest, most stable woods we can work — it resists the dents and seasonal movement that age cheaper furniture badly. The colour is deep and warm, the grain is fine, and it only looks better with the decades. We work in blackwood and little else, because it earns its place in furniture meant to be kept.
How we build
We use mortise-and-tenon joinery — the slow way — because it holds up over decades and can be repaired rather than thrown out. We hand-pick the timber, take the time the work needs, and finish everything by hand. No particleboard, no veneer, and nothing rushed out the door.
Straight from the bench
Working from the workshop means no showroom rent, no commissions, no middlemen. You get solid blackwood, custom-made, at a price closer to mass-produced furniture than you’d expect — and it lasts a great deal longer.
We don't offer a warranty. We'd rather build things well enough not to need one — and we're here if they ever do.
